On Friday of this week, I am off to PNG with fellow photographer Mark Stothard and video genius Mike Fletcher aboard the super True North. I have been waiting for this trip for so long and now its here, I am really excited about it. IMG_6634 Mark  tells me there are photo opportunities at every corner and I cant wait to actually get there and see it for myself. These two photos Mark took on a previous trip a little while back. More of Marks work can be  seen at his blog by clicking the link above or here… Cya on Friday guys…. Keep checking back here and on Marks blog as we will be updating regularly from the boat

I have been going through some images from a recent helicopter trip I did in the Top End. While they are not saleable shots, there are some great memories in there from a great trip.. If you feel like taking a look, here is the link.

I will be adding more when I get the time

Marble Bar, WA

•October 27, 2009 • 8 Comments

marble bar morning Fellow bloggers, Swervin Mervin and Dave Bettini thought it would be a good idea to do a little mini promo on the small WA town of Marble Bar, why they  decided to do this is beyond me but I am playing along anyway. These shots were taken when The CAKE CREW ( Albert, Casey and I ) hit this happening  town earlier on this year. We stopped here overnight on our way to Karijini and I would go as far to say, if I was ever going back this way, I would  probably drive through here again en route to Karijini. The first shot was taken from inside the caravan park early one morning, the second is Chinamans Pool and the third is Marble bar Rd ( I know I know, its so similar to Casey’s but we were next to each other when we shot it )

Birdie Beach

Today we ( myself and a mate Brett ) went out to BIrdie Beach. The swell was still big but nowhere near as big as it has been in the last couple of days.

Birdie Channel web This area up here has so many good places to shoot but time lately has been a little hard for me to come by. Between now and my trip to PNG, I am going to be trying to shoot as much as  possible and get my mojo back for the trip. The second shot is of two guys that were fishing ( and catching lots of fish as well ) right on the edge of the rocks. People might say we are mad  for trying to get as close as possible to the edge to get our shots, but those guys that fish are NUTS ! ! !

I SURVIVED……

•October 10, 2009 • 6 Comments

This morning myself, Brent Pearson and a friends of his Colin, did Canyon X. Brent was probably one of the first to shoot this place and as of late, there have been a few more photographers getting down there. It is a little hairy climbing down the track in pitch black ( ask CF )… He loved the experience so Brent tells me ! !

CANYON-X

This is a different take on this spot. If you look closely, you can see one the ropes needed to get down and back up. I got another shot from here that Ill post later take from out on the rock shelf. I have to say a massive THANKS to Brent for taking me down there. He is a genuinely good guy and will do anything he can to help anyone out, thanks mate ! !!

A little comedy

I was going through some old stuff ( well not that old ) but shots from a recent trip with Casey and Albert and found this shot of Oxer Lookout. This lookout is not far from the Eco retreat and gives you a birds eye view of Junction Pool.

If anyone is going to the course that Christian Fletcher and co are running next year, you guys are in for a treat.. This place is amazing and I WILL be going back for sure.

I was kind of hoping for a little more cloud action, but it was ok I guess considering I had approx 10 minutes from the time I got here till it was over. I am off to Canyon X with another photog, Brent Pearson so that should be fun then I am off to PNG with Mark Stothard in November so I am sure to have some awesome images from that trip. In the meantime, Im going to try and get out and do a bit more local stuff….

Brent Pearson Course

•September 21, 2009 • 8 Comments

On the weekend just gone, I attended a course run by photographer Brent Pearson in Mona Vale. While I went mainly to see how Brent goes about his PS work, it was good to hear him talk about location scouting, reading weather patterns and various other stuff.

Brent is a super nice guy and very knowledgeable in what he does and is more than willing to share anything he knows with anyone that asks ( wether you are on his course or not ). Anyone that is wanting to know more about PS work and seascape photography, Brent is the man to see. Thanks for your time mate, I appreciate as did the other people on the course.

The other day I posted about me being Lazy and not shooting stuff that is virtually in my back yard ( well 45 minutes form where I live, then its an 75 minutes back up to work, and all by 8.30 ) but I had to go to the lab this morning, so I thought I would give it another shot…

skillion1At least I got some clouds this time but the colour in the sky is still not what I am hoping for…. Tony, the great image is not far away, I promise ! !
