Angels Langing & The Narrows

Posted: June 6, 2008 in Uncategorized

Yesterday we went and did The narrows Trail and the Angels Landing Trail. The Narrows starts bt taking a bus from The Visitors Centre within Zion National Park all the way to the last stop, The Temple of Shiniwava and from there it is about a 1.6 mile walk along a paved footpath. A the end of the footpath, you start wading up The Virgin River which cans sometimes be up over your waist. After a couple of hours,we reached Orderville Canyon, which was as far as we went. After we hiked back down to The Temple of Shiniwava, I was  pretty surprised that I never fell over……

In the afternoon, we hiked up Angels Landing. This was a pretty tough hike. We got the bus to The West Rim Stop and began the hike from there. The first part of the hike was failry easy, but it changed pretty quickly… There was a series of switchbacks, which were very steep and pretty hard all the way into Refigerator Canyon. After Refrigerator Canyon, it was Walter’s Wiggles, another series of switchbacks which takes you to a place where you need to scramble across and up rocks to get to Scout’s Lookout where the views are pretty amazing. I thoght it was be heaps easier on the way down, but it was still pretty hard on the legs, but at the end of the day it was worth it….
